Conflict with North Korea will be 'shattering' - Australian PM

PRESIDENT Trump said US military solutions are "locked and loaded" in a direct threat against North Korea as tensions continue to mount.

The RAF has been asked to join an international spy operation over the rogue state to pinpoint nuclear sites and artillery batteries.

Since 2008, photographer Eric Lafforgue ventured to North Korea six times.

Much talk this week has also centred on the state government's controversial tax on the big banks which passed the lower house of state parliament along with other budget measures but faces a bid by the Liberals to block it in the Legislative Council.

Australia's Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has discussed national security and drug problem at a Liberal Party forum in Adelaide on Saturday, declaring that keeping Australians safe was the government's No. 1 priority.

If used, the £800 million spy plane would pry on communications chatter in North Korea.

"The scourge of methamphetamine use in Australia is a problem we are determined to eradicate", Turnbull said.

Kim Jong-un has threatened to fire missiles at the island of Guam, where the US has its foothold in the Pacific Ocean - a key strategic location. Called Ulchi-Freedom Guardian, the exercises are expected to run from August 21-31 and involve tens of thousands of American and South Korean troops on the ground and in the sea and air.

Now Trump has reaffirmed his statement - and added that maybe it "wasn't tough enough".
