Pochettino forgives Rose for Spurs' 'Google' jibe

Pochettino said that he has accepted Rose's apology and he reiterated that the club would sign players before the close of the transfer window.

And the defender is relishing being back in the top flight.

England worldwide Rose was forced to apologise to the club in a statement published shortly before Pochettino's pre-season press conference, after he gave an interview in which he attacked Tottenham's rigid pay structure and careful transfer strategy.

He said: "Pochettino is a great manager, that is obvious, and they have the same team that has finished second and third in the last two years, so that means they have a very good team".

"And when you sign a player like Eric Dyer, who is an global today when no one knew him before".

"Also, when I first arrived here, people wanted to know, 'who is Mauricio Pochettino?' too".

The 27-year-old told The Sun on the eve of the new season that "I know my worth and I will make sure I get what I am worth" and implored the board to sign "world-class players" and "not players you have to google and say, 'who's that?'".

Rose apologised for criticising Spurs' pay structure and transfer strategy in a statement released shortly before Tottenham's press conference to preview Sunday's Premier League match against Newcastle.

"If you remember four years ago, the people say who is Mauricio Pochettino? I definitely feel we need to bolster the squad". I'm just not buying the idea that we don't need anyone.

'The worst thing he said was "I don't want Tottenham to have to sign players we have to Google".

"I'm relaxed because when you see the team and players they are so focused", he added.

Pochettino has however reminded Rose that some of Tottenham's most successful players were signed by the club while still relatively unknown. "With the players we have we can compete in a very good way".

"The fact of the matter is, Danny Rose can ask to leave the football club - there's no problem with that and it's happened historically in the game - but the way in which you go about it in a respectful manner is important, I think". I think Harry is one of the best strikers in the world.
