Conte, Mourinho 'out of their minds'

The former Italy manager is said to be frustrated at the Blues' spending and a move back to his home country, although not as national manager has been mooted.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager did praise PSG earlier this season but he also recently committed himself to the Red Devils and there has been talk of extending his deal past 2020.

"In one moment you stay here, another you stay in a different place". The Italian's contract runs until June 2019, but he has been linked with an early exit from Stamford Bridge ever since coming into conflict with the club hierarchy over recruitment during a troubled summer transfer window.

This term there have been reports of player unrest and arguments over transfer funds, while Conte has become embroiled in a very public spat with the master of mind games Mourinho.

One name not under consideration is Carlo Ancelotti, which is surprising since the 58-year-old won a league and FA Cup double with Chelsea in 2010. I think in the last period we must be more clinical.

Conte's future at Stamford Bridge has been in doubt amid claims the Italian was ready to quit his job this summer. Our job is very difficult.

"We are a bit afraid of injuries, of needing him".

"He has to show me that he's better than Morata, or than Hazard". Conte's just doing what Mourinho used to do. Conte stressed it would be the club's decision, suggesting also that Chelsea's high turnover of coaches increases the amount of scrutiny on the role. "It wasn't easy [at the start] as it was my first experience in another country".

But he was underwhelmed by the signings made and felt he was not given a squad capable of challenging on two fronts in the Premier League and Champions League. "We have to improve", Conte explained.

Herein lies the problem for Chelsea, as the Bianconeri will be keeping a firm grasp on their Coach, unwilling to allow him to leave for England.

Asked if he could understand Chelsea supporters' confusion at their club's failure to make a bigger play to sign Sanchez, Conte replied: "I don't know".

And speaking on Friday, Mourinho showed no inclination to let tempers calm as he once more went on the warpath.

Hope they aren't both waiting in the reception for their interview at the same time.

Chelsea next face Manchester United in the English Premier League at Old Trafford on the 25 February.
