Psg open new contract talks with Verratti — Exclusive

The France international spent a spell on the sidelines through injury, with Mourinho also axing the midfielder from his starting XI after a poor run of form.

According to a report from the well-regarded Miguel Delaney, writing in the Independent, Mourinho wants four new faces at Old Trafford next season - with as many as seven facing an exit.

Miguel Delaney writes: 'One plan was a potential swap for Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti, especially since the two share Mino Raiola as agent, but that possibility is still seen as some way off. United still value Pogba as a player for their future, and all involved are determined to make it work'.

"This is not the first time".

Verratti has been widely criticised following his dismissal for haranguing the referee in the last-16 second leg, as PSG crumbled to a 5-2 aggregate defeat.

If they were open to moving him on, there would likely be no shortage of suitors, even if Barcelona will no longer be among them.

"He must learn from his experiences, both the positive and negative". "It's true that the player has a lot of characer".

Verratti remains under the microscope in the French capital.

"I've talked about [the Madrid rumours] for months and my opinion has not changed", Emery told a pre-match news conference ahead of Wednesday's Ligue 1 clash with Angers. "He is an important player in the project".

"Verratti is the future of PSG and knows that he must improve", said manager Unai Emery last week - quoted by Goal.
