Salah returns to Roma for Champions League semi-final

Liverpool fans will be rejoicing as their side have been drawn against Roma in the semi-final of the Champions League.

Real Madrid who advanced to the semi-final following a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty in stoppage time when Juventus were at the brink of what would have been the greatest comeback in Champions League history.

The two-leg semifinals will take place April 24/25 and May 1/2.

Roma beat Barcelona in astonishing fashion in the quarter-finals, overturning a 4-1 first-leg deficit by winning 3-0 in Italy on Tuesday night to progress on away goals, and the Giallorossi will once again be away from home as the first leg is at Anfield on April 24 before the return fixture on May 2.

Liverpool staff gathered at the Melwood training base to watch the draw together, with the club's Twitter account depicting the tense scenes moments before the balls were picked out of the bowl.

"It will be two difficult games because they are fantastic side", Klopp added. "We were knocked out by them last year and we want to do better this year", Salihamidzic said in a recent interview.

"I'm optimistic. We have great respect for them but we're not afraid". Madrid is looking to win its third consecutive Champions League title. Happy with Roma, especially knowing there won't be any complacency from the team just because they aren't Bayern/Madrid. The tie will be a meeting of Liverpool's prolific stirker Mohamed Salah against his former club.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will face holders Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

They got over the line in the end and now have Bayern blocking their path to the final in Kiev.

On the road to the semi final, Liverpool consolidated their first leg 3-0 win against fellow English side Manchester City with another 2-1 victory at the Etihad.

"I tried to think about what I feel, but it was not that I thought 'Thank God not Bayern, thank God not Real Madrid, yippee Roma' or the other way around", Klopp told Liverpool's website.

"But if anybody thinks this is the easiest draw then I cannot help this person; they obviously didn't see both games against Barcelona".

Glad we avoided the Bernabeu.
