Trump calls Comey 'untruthful slime ball' as book details released

Fired FBI Director James Comey, in a much-awaited interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos on Sunday evening, said President Donald Trump is morally unfit to be president, and accused Trump of urging him to drop the investigation into National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.

A copy of former FBI director James Comey's book "A Higher Loyalty" is seen in New York City, New York, U.S. April 13, 2018.

Comey added that supporters of the president who admire his gumption and outsider mentality are "kidding themselves", as no amount of agenda-driven policy is worth a slip-back on basic principles. Rosenstein harshly criticized Comey's management of the investigation and his decision to publicly announce that the Clinton investigation had been closed in July 2016.

He said he knows that's a "stunning" possibility and something that he never thought he'd say about a president of the United States.

But House Speaker Paul Ryan said Sunday that Comey was a man of integrity "as far as I know", while adding that "I don't know the guy".

"None of us really understands what's going on with all these numbers", was the key quote.

"It's been really hard to put all the pieces together in our minds about, 'How does this all add up?'" he said.

Comey is now a crucial witness for Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether Trump has tried to obstruct the Russia probe.

"It's certainly some evidence of obstruction of justice", Comey answered.

Comey addressed a meeting in which he briefed Trump on allegations that Russia had videotaped the future president having prostitutes urinate on each other in a Moscow hotel room: "He was very defensive and started to launch into. the list of people who had accused him of touching them improperly, sexual assault and how he hadn't done this, he hadn't done that".

He continued: "3 presidents are in my book: 2 help illustrate the values at the heart of ethical leadership; 1 serves as a counterpoint". Video 2: He says he thinks the Russians may have something on Trump. Video 3: He talks about Trump demanding loyalty. Was she promised a Supreme Court seat, or AG, in order to lay off Hillary. He said he didn't want to work for dishonourable people who would treat someone like me in such a manner.

"Looking at me, he said, 'You think it was a great answer, right?' and started to move on".

"The audience could see my face change", he said.

Comey also revealed his assumption that Hillary Clinton was going to win the election.

After appearances on "GMA", NPR's "Morning Edition", and "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Tuesday, Comey will appear on ABC's "The View" on Wednesday.

After Clinton's loss, many Democrats blamed Comey, and Clinton herself has said it hurt her election prospects.

'The most important being truth. I don't think he's medically unfit to be president.

"Yes, in a sense", Comey said. "This president is unethical, and untethered to truth and institutional values", Comey writes.

"He then returned to the issue of loyalty, saying again, 'I need loyalty.' I paused, again".

"Unbelievably, James Comey states that Polls, where Crooked Hillary was leading, were a factor in the handling (stupidly) of the Clinton Email probe".

Still, he says it strikes him as unlikely, but something that he can't say without high confidence. That critic is not just any critic-it's Michiko Kakutani, the former chief book critic at the paper.
